Horticulture is the art or practice of garden cultivation and management. Horticulture includes arboriculture, floriculture, landscape horticulture, landscape design, olericulture, pomology, and viticulture.
Our programs cover plant identification, landscape design, construction and maintenance, soils and plant nutrition, plant production and marketing, irrigation and water conservation, integrated pest management, and sustainable horticultural practices.

Viticulture is the study and production of grapes, often for the purpose of making wine. This program prepares students for work in vineyards and wineries. California is the largest producer of wine in the US, and students will benefit from Sacramento’s proximity to many of California’s centers of wine production in Napa and Sonoma counties.
